Elysium

The Elysian Fields were a place in Greek mythology where the souls of heroes and righteous people went to rest. In this land of eternal peace and happiness, the souls were absolved from all suffering. They had infinite time to stroll through the pale meadows, surrounded by music, poplars and asphodels. The last, a type of flower, came to symbolize death, grief, sadness, melancholy, sentimentality — and eternity.

In the words of English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson:

Others in Elysian valleys dwell,
Resting weary limbs at last on beds of asphodel

Oleg Oprisco | on Tumblr (Ukraine)

Born in the small city of Lviv in western Ukraine, photographer Oleg Oprisсo worked as an operator at a photo lab from the age of 16. At age 18, he moved to Kiev, where he began his professional photography career. At age 23, he changed from digital capture to film.

Oprisсo is known for his beautiful and very inspired stagging: “Each of my photos is inspired by a scene from real life. That is the perfect source of inspiration for me as there is so much beauty to it. Perhaps today on your way to work, when you were observing the world around you, that was the scene to inspire my next photograph. Of course there are my own changes that I add to the reality, such as characters, props, location, and light… I am constantly involved in a search for inspiration and ideas.” (src. Seamless)

Miles Davis covered in blood after an altercation with police

"Altercation" sounds so polite, like it was a mutual thing and not one man getting assaulted by the police. Miles got beat up by the police.
The cops assaulted Miles because he was black. He was standing outside Birdland where he just performed and was taking a break. His name was on the marquee. They saw him escort a white female friend from the club into a taxi and then they approached him after as he was taking a smoke break. The cops told him to “move on”. Miles said he was playing at the club and was on break. They weren’t hearing any of that. One cop then punched him in the stomach, while another one cracked him on the head with a nightstick. That’s why he’s covered in blood. He was a victim of police brutality.
